Well, we got our first birthmother phone call on Nov.20, 2008 (only 2mo. after being on the adoption waiting list) WOW!!! I came home from work and I listened to my voicemails and heard a sweet, young girls voice explaining that she was pregnant with twins and needed to find a good home for her children. Her name is Jessika and she is 18 years old. I cried and then called Rick to tell him the good news! He came home from work immediately and we called Jessika that evening. We were very nervous because we didn't know if she would like us or not, or if she had other couples in mind. When I spoke with Jessika she said she was only 18 yrs. old and wanted a future for herself and could not raise 2 more children. She already has a 9mo. old daughter. Immediately, I got the best vibe from her and she said that she found our profile on the adoption website. She said she was drawn to our profile only. Jessika is a very strong and courageous young lady. After we spoke for about 30min., we decided that we had a lot in common and would like to meet each other.
On Nov. 22, 2008 we made arrangements to meet Jessika. She brought her beautiful little girl Gracie and her grandmother with her. We had a 1.5hr. conversation over breakfast and really hit it off. We loved her immediately and knew that she would fit perfectly in our lives. We all decided that we wanted to match, which means we will take on this journey together until the babies are born and after. Did I mention that Jessika is 13 weeks pregnant????
WOW!!!! We are going to be parents to twins!!!! My mother said she was secretly praying that we would have twins...she got her wish! We are due May 28, 2009. We have a ways to go yet, but this gives us lots of time to plan everything out. We will find out in January what we are having and Rick and I will both be there for the doctors appt. I will be visiting all of the appts. with Jessika from here on out.
Our next meeting will take place with the adoption agency and Jessika to determine post delivery arrangements.
